New artist: Hoxiun
July 13, 2013
Our ever-growing international line-up now reaches Portugal, with Tiago Espiga’s new Hoxiun project. Whilst we cover many different styles of House and Techno, Hoxiun’s ‘Rise EP’ marks the third consecutive release that features darker, minimal sounds. It is released on Monday 22nd July but in the meantime, we thought we’d introduce Tiago and his EP.

Press release:
Hailing from Portugal, Tiago Espiga emerges from his previous experimental TecDecJec project with a new dance music pseudonym. As Hoxiun he is now striving to continue where he left off with the addition of new sonorities from genres as diverse as Techno, Minimal, Deep House and Garage.
The three tracks that make up the Rise EP offer a dark blend of Techno littered with intelligently programmed rhythm and detail.
Due to his family’s musical influences, Tiago leaned to play many different musical instruments as well as following many years of musical education. Although he had no specific musical training, from an early age Tiago started to interact with various music production software.
Tiago descends from a family of musicians and was exposed to an early influence of several types of music including Bossa Nova, Jazz, Rock and even Metal. Before long, he had discovered the electronic side of modern music and with the influence of bands like Underworld, Massive Attack and The Prodigy, Tiago began his path into the contemporary electronic music world.
Whilst sounding worlds apart from the individual musical influences Tiago cites, they are clearly embedded within his Rise EP for all to hear. The minimal nature of present-day electronica combines seamlessly with deconstructed Bossa Nova percussion drawn together under a dark veil.

We invited Darren to contribute a mix for our new series requesting the inclusion of at least one WDR track. Well, he has gone several steps further and provided a session comprised solely of Warehouse Decay material!
It includes the sorts of minimal Techno sound you’ll hear in his EP, with tracks from Fau’s Keta EP and the forthcoming EP by Hoxiun joined by moments from ‘Time Out’. A detour from the ambient music made under his own name, Dokun is the Techno project of Darren McClure. Darren is currently based in Japan and the name Dokun is a Japanese word used to describe the sound of a heartbeat. Although this project is primarily focused on beats and grooves, it is also informed by the attention to sound design that occurs in his more abstract, ambient work.
Darren has previously released music on a number of labels, specializing in experimental, ambient and field recording-based sounds. With his debut as Dokun, the four tracks that comprise Time Out explore a wide range of textures. Title track ‘Time Out’ begins the EP on a deep, minimal note before the energetic ‘Juxta’ moves things on towards the dance floor. Third track ‘Iris’ returns to minimal territory before ‘Tanom’ draws the EP to a close with twisted wobbling Techno.

New Warehouse Decay mix series
June 29, 2013
Today we decided to set up a Mixcloud page for Warehouse Decay, where we will host our own mix series compiled with the help of label artists and friends. Each mix will feature at least one Warehouse Decay track and they may include as-yet unreleased material from our label. Kicking off proceedings, Magnofon presents an hour of Minimal Techno, Deep and Jackin’ House. To check out the mix, click the image above, or HERE
Magnofon is responsible for the Connection and Lost Property EPs on WDR. Normally a vinyl only DJ, Harry Towell (Magnofon) delivers a rare digital-only mix that spans the full spectrum of his taste in House and Techno. It includes a lot of fresh material, some of which made its way into his recent set at Opus Dai, Stamford.
It begins on a minimal note with Klapper Voight’s ‘Blanket Girl’ from the recent WDR sampler CD and ‘Iris’ from the forthcoming EP by Dokun. It transitions smoothly through a couple of Deep House selections before Magnofon’s unsigned ‘Dustmood’ comes in.
The shuffling garage-influenced beats pave the way for some dancefloor-friendly Jackin’ House before the deep-hitting Dachshund remix of Lee Guthrie’s No Doubt comes in. Nyra’s ‘Like This’ follows to re-introduce the minimal Techno sound, followed by Fau’s Disorder from his new ‘Keta EP’ on WDR. The hard jackin’ beats of Kindimmer follow before ‘Tinder’ from Louper’s eponymous EP on WDR draws this hour-long session to a close.

WDR006 Fau – Keta EP
June 26, 2013
As from today, our catalog now stands at six releases and the latest inclusion is dark Techno from Polish artist Fau. The three track Keta EP is out now on Juno, DJ Download and Bandcamp.

Warsaw producer Fau, well-known in some music circles for his DJ collective Mustnotsleep and producer duet Fau&Deam, was until now mainly associated with future-bass DJ sets and productions. His first solo EP is therefore quite surprising – the material included is 100% Techno, bringing to mind the type of aesthetics you’d associate with the likes of Sandwell District, Frozen Border or Horizontal Ground.
The EP opens with the strict, severe and dark ‘Keta’. Its climate (basement filled up with smoke, 5 am…) may be comparable either to the classic System 01 ‘Drugs Work’ or Dario Zenker’s productions on previously mentioned Frozen Border.
The next track ‘Disorder’ basically sounds just as if it were created by Function or Sleeparchive – however, what is really significant is that nothing further can be said concerning the copying of someone else’s ideas. What will strike your attention is how graceful and tactful the reference to their works is.
The last one, almost 10 minutes in length is ‘Flying Mannequin’ undoubtedly possessing the biggest club potential, which will perfectly match the so-called peak-time.
What is more, all 3 tracks are based on a very high level of vocal sample usage. The best example of this effect is shown in “Disorder”, where the shredded voice of Hvrst stays in the head for a long time after listening to this tune.

Various – Music of The Future (Ponton Music)
June 24, 2013
We’ve just been alerted to an excellent Polish artists only release on Ponton Music, which is available today through the likes of Juno, Beatport and Boomkat. The collection spans a broad range of contemporary electronic dance music, in association with the Music Of The Future gigs in and around Warsaw.
It comes highly recommended with excellent contributions throughout. We’re particularly impressed by pieces by Marcin Krupa, Enn, Weld and Sovinsky. You can listen to previews of the compilation and purchase by clicking here: BUY / LISTEN
One artist in the line-up that may seem familiar to regular visitors of our website is Fau, with his track ‘Consume Commute’. The compilation lands two days before his debut solo EP ‘Keta’ is to be released here on Warehouse Decay. You can check out a preview of the EP on our Souncloud account, embedded below
New Louper sounds
June 14, 2013
Hot on the heels of the recent self-titled debut EP from Louper here on WDR, we have been informed that there will be a follow up EP coming out soon. Louper has uploaded a new track to the Handstitched Soundcloud account, where you can also hear more of his work across all genres and pseudonyms:
This track is deep, slow Techno with a refreshing ambient wash; reminiscent of ‘Suber’ from Louper’s EP for Warehouse Decay. If you missed this release, please take the time to check it out here: JUNO / BANDCAMP
