After returning with the familiar name of Magnofon for our last release, we are pleased to welcome yet another new name to our catalog. On the 26th of June, Fau will be releasing his debut solo EP with us; a set of three excellent Techno tracks. A preview of the forthcoming ‘Keta EP’ has been uploaded to our Soundcloud account, which you can listen to via the player embedded below:

Warsaw producer Fau, well-known in some music circles for his DJ collective Mustnotsleep and producer duet Fau&Deam, was until now mainly associated with future-bass DJ sets and productions. His first solo EP is therefore quite surprising – the material included is 100% Techno, bringing to mind the type of aesthetics you’d associate with the likes of Sandwell District, Frozen Border or Horizontal Ground.

The EP opens with the strict, severe and dark ‘Keta’. Its climate (basement filled up with smoke, 5 am…) may be comparable either to the classic System 01 ‘Drugs Work’ or Dario Zenker’s productions on previously mentioned Frozen Border.

The next track ‘Disorder’ basically sounds just as if it were created by Function or Sleeparchive – however, what is really significant is that nothing further can be said concerning the copying of someone else’s ideas. What will strike your attention is how graceful and tactful the reference to their works is.

The last one, almost 10 minutes in length is ‘Flying Mannequin’ undoubtedly possessing the biggest club potential, which will perfectly match the so-called peak-time.

What is more, all 3 tracks are based on a very high level of vocal sample usage. The best example of this effect is shown in “Disorder”, where the shredded voice of Hvrst stays in the head for a long time after listening to this tune.
“Keta” EP will emerge on the music market on the 26th of June through the support of British label Warehouse Decay Recordings.

Bio:
Fau is a Warsaw based producer and DJ, member of the Mustnotsleep DJ collective and promoter at Music of the Future (intelligent electronic party cycle). His natural environment is deep bass, all kinds of clicks and other unidentifiable sounds. His roots belong to abstract rap and trip hop music however, he now finds himself at home combining genres such as Techno,  Bass and Ambient. Apart from his solo productions, he also takes part in a collaboration project with another Warsaw producer called Deam (as Fau&Deam). Their joint album entitled “Life Act” has been released by American label Dubporn Records (currently Loveless Records). Until now, Fau’s tracks have been released by labels such as: Subtopia Records, Apparition Recordings and Dubporn Records. The forthcoming Keta EP on Warehouse Decay is the result of his latest random sound combinations.

We have been working with our artists towards compiling a label sampler album, showcasing  current and as yet unreleased material from Warehouse Decay. The sampler is intended as an introduction to both the work of the artists included and the wide ranging styles of House and Techno we release on the label.

We had always intended for this compilation album to be given away for free via our Bandcamp account. The sampler was also made into a small run of 50 copies, given away by Magnofon at his recent gig in Stamford, UK. Available now from Warehouse Decay, our fifth release sees the return of Magnofon – who contributed the first EP on WDR. His latest offering is titled ‘Lost Property’ and features five tracks spanning several sub genres of House and Techno.

WDR005 sees the return of Magnofon, with a conceptual EP that sits perfectly in line with the theme that underpins the label.
Lost Property marks a progression from the sound which featured in his previous ‘Connection’; this time the sound goes deeper, reflecting the artist’s fascination with abandoned buildings and urban decay. The theme carries through via the track titles all the while reinforced by the striking cover artwork, taken by Simon James at the abandoned RAF Upwood site.
With the concept and a generous five tracks clocking in at over 34 minutes, you could even classify this latest Magnofon record as a mini album.

Magnofon is British producer Harry Towell who has over a decade of music-making experience. He also records ambient music as Spheruleus and as well as Warehouse Decay, he runs the Audio Gourmet and Tessellate labels. He got into House music whilst in his teens, building a collection of vinyl and eventually playing out in bars and clubs. His time spent as a DJ peaked around 2007 when he played alongside the likes of Fred Everything, Nathan Coles, Inland Knights, JT Donaldson, The Littlemen, Da Sunlounge and DIY. Shortly after, a change in circumstances meant that DJing had to be sidelined and that is when he began to create ambient music.
In 2012 he started recording House music again after being reunited with his record collection which had previously been kept in storage. Later in the year, his debut ‘Connection EP’ became the inaugral release on Warehouse Decay Recordings.

Last night Magnofon was DJing in Stamford as part of the all-day Awakening event at Opus Dai, ahead of his second release on Warehouse Decay – which comes out tomorrow.
We had intended to record the full set but unfortunately that never materialised! We did have our camera man in-place who was able to take this brief video:

On Saturday 25th of May, Magnofon will be DJing in Stamford, UK from 4:30pm. We see it as a launch party for Magnofon’s forthcoming ‘Lost Property’ EP which comes out on Warehouse Decay Recordings on the following Monday. It’s at an all day event called Awakening, Opus Dai where he’ll be dishing out 50 free specially made Warehouse Decay samplers. The discs will contain current and unreleased material from the label and are only available at the gig. If you’re in the area, arrive early to make sure you receive a copy – they won’t hang around for long!

Tracks from Warehouse Decay releases continue to do the round on the radio this weekend. We’ve just had news from the new Bluetown Electronica show that they’ll be playing a track from the new Louper EP on Sheppey FM this coming Sunday. The fourth release on Warehouse Decay is out today, in the shape of a self-titled EP by Louper.

Louper is Tim Diagram, who has made waves in the electro-ambient music scene since 2001, this new project is an upward shift from his usual output as Maps and Diagrams and his many other guises. Tim has released over 15 albums, both as solo work and collaborations.

Under the Louper moniker, Tim’s first is the self-titled ‘Louper’ EP out on Warehouse Decay Recordings. It focuses on a straight 4X4 structure with a musical nod to the classic sound of Acid House and Detroit Techno scene in which he was absorbed in during the early 90′s. Tim adds a twisted perspective to the EP with stuttered percussion on the two tracks “Idem” and “Tinder” which are nicely balanced with the layered, more dense sounds of “Loma” and “Suber”.
